Brighton Cannabis Club To Hold First Open Meeting: 26/01/14

On Sunday 26th of January the south coast will break in the New Year with its first public meeting hosted by the Brighton Cannabis Club and Sussex Cannabis Collective.

BrightonIn the last two years the momentum has been growing across the country to push for a safer and fairer cannabis policy. The United Kingdom Cannabis Social Clubs have been a prime force behind this campaigning and last year held 13 protests up and down the country to raise awareness of the harms of prohibition.

Brighton has long been a liberal city and has a history for being home to pro cannabis events such as J-Day and even a Global Cannabis March. It is the first constituency in the country to elect a Green Member of Parliament, Caroline Lucas and their drugs policy agrees that cannabis should be decriminalised and regulated.

Only down the road in Worthing did we see the two coffeeshops open up like Bongchuffa by activists such as Chris Baldwin and Winston Matthews who also intend to join the meeting. But things have been slow in the last decade and it is time that there was a new push in one of the country’s most liberal and tolerating places.

Everyone is welcome to come on Sunday 26th of January, 2pm, we will be discussing the plans that we have for Brighton including a Green Pride Day, more local meetings and events and you can also learn houw to get involved with raising awareness. The meeting will take place at The Hobgoblin at 31 York Pl, Brighton and Hove, Brighton, East Sussex BN1 4GU. Activists Clark French and Greg de Hoedt will be at the meeting and look forward to meeting you.

MookBoxOn Saturday the Brighton club and Sussex Cannabis Collective UKCSC will be out in Brighton Town with the Mook Box Sound System on one of our flyering days to advertise the event and our message. If you are planning to be about look out for us and come say “high”!

The UKCSC are all about promoting harm reduction, the truths about cannabis, educating in the harms of prohibition as a policy and of course trying to change the law. We want to see a age restricted, regulated cannabis market in the UK so that NO ONE ever has to go to prison or get a criminal record for growing or using this plant again. This would save on the public purse and put an extremely large new stream of tax into the economy that has previously been going to organized crime gangs.

If this is what you’ve been waiting to get involved with then why not come along where you will get to meet some other like-minded individuals and some experienced cannabis activists to help you on your way.
